From Serigrafia exhibition at @sfpubliclibrary “Viva La Raza National Chicano Moratorium” poster 1970. “This is the earliest poster in this exhibition reflecting the imagery of the emerging Chicano movement.” “The Chicano Moratorium consisted of several demonstrations by the Mexican American community against the war in Vietnam and racism at home. This event in East Los Angeles on August 20, 1970 was the latest anti war demonstration ever mounted by people of color. The ensuing police riot left four dead, one of them journalist Rubén Salazar for whom Belvedere Park is now named” #sanfrancisco #art #activism #library (at San Francisco Public Library)
